I understand the weight of the white coat because I have worn it my entire adult life. As a board-certified internal medicine physician, I dedicated myself to patient care, working tirelessly within a system that often demands everything we have to give.

But dedication comes at a cost when it isn't balanced with boundaries and strategy. I experienced severe burnout—the kind that makes you question the very foundation of the career you sacrificed so much to build. And then, life intervened in the most drastic way possible.

A sudden, life-altering medical crisis—necrotizing fasciitis—led to an amputation. I went from being the doctor to being the patient in the ICU. In the quiet, challenging moments of recovery, I realized something profound: surviving wasn't enough. I needed a strategy to thrive. I couldn't return to the same grueling clinical pace, nor did I want to. I had to pivot.

That pivot required dismantling my identity as a clinician and rebuilding myself as a healthcare leader, physician executive, entrepreneur, and strategist. I learned how to leverage my medical degree in new ways—through utilization management, medical witness work, medical consulting, corporate medical directorships, and eventually, coaching other physicians.

Today, I am the Founder of Phoenix Health Consulting LLC which includes Pinnacle Business Academy, Phoenix Ascend Press, and The Mindful Practice Podcast. I created PBA because I saw too many brilliant, exhausted physicians who felt trapped by their own success. I want you to know that your medical degree is a foundation, not a cage. Whether you want to reclaim joy in clinical practice, transition into a non-clinical role, or build a business on your own terms, you don't have to start over. You just need to be strategically positioned.
